In Cityscapes, I explore the tension between aspiration and reality—what we dream a city to be, and what it often is. The series presents two contrasting worlds: the utopian skyline, clean and glittering like an emerald city, and the shadowed underbelly—the “bulge”—where homelessness, addiction, greed, and disrepair live.
Each piece is crafted with layered glass and painted background elements. The utopias are precise, hopeful, and almost fantastical in their detail—gleaming towers reaching into light. In contrast, the dystopias are irregular - appearing to burst at the seams.
These works ask the viewer to reconcile what we chase versus what we choose to ignore. They’re not just pretty landscapes—they’re portraits of a society split between illusion and truth.
